Building Justice: Survivors Take the Lead.
When the justice system doesn’t prioritize safety, communities are not protected, and nobody wins.
PATH (Phillips Exeter Academy Alumni for Truth & Healing) began when alumni came forward about sexual abuse and were met with a traditional liability-focused response and no incentive for the academy to explore more meaningful steps to repair. We also saw that our community did not become safer as incidents continued. PATH formed to fill the void—not only for survivors, but, now with the PATH Institute, for schools struggling to find effective, more accountable, and compassionate ways to address sexual misconduct. In 2023, we founded the Institute to partner with boarding schools nationwide, offering a space to explore new approaches, share knowledge, and build responses rooted in healing, truth, and lasting cultural change.
